Dear all,
The vaccination roll-out is proceeding at pace across Europe, and more and more National Recovery Plans are getting the green light from the Commission. At last, the prospect of real recovery is starting to feel tangible.
To accelerate that recovery and use it to catalyse the twin digital and green transitions, one of the biggest opportunities at hand is scaling up the deployment of state-of-the-art industrial technologies. Europe's technology industries are global leaders in many of these technologies today but, to keep them there and strengthen the much-desired resilience, innovation is key. At the recent event of the EP Intergroup on Sustainable, Long-term Investments & Competitive European Industry, which Orgalim co-organised, Commissioner Gabriel emphasised that close collaboration with industry is needed on innovating for a better, greener, more inclusive and more digital Europe. Orgalim's position paper on innovation sets out policy pathways and recommendations to achieve this. And our Policy Director Christoph Luykx illustrates how this could look in practice, in an article just out in the context of forthcoming EU Sustainable Energy Week.
If the first six months of the year have been intense, the second half will be even more loaded with new legislative proposals. And I am pleased to see that speeding up the digital transformation is one of the top priorities of the Slovenian Presidency about to start. Orgalim will actively support that ambition, contributing across the many policy files from AI to cybersecurity to the Sustainable Products Initiative and more. As we recharge the batteries for an action-packed rentrée, I hope we all find some time to enjoy the summer and the greater freedoms to meet up. In the meantime, and on a lighter note, I am delighted to shine a light on our fantastic Orgalim team, who you will have a chance to get to know a little better through our new ‘Meet the Team’ series during the weeks ahead.
Best regards,
