Orgalim is supportive of the main objectives stipulated in the revised Network and Information Systems (NIS2) Directive which aim to enhance cybersecurity requirements across Europe, including in its technology industries, and to address the growing threat of cyberattacks. The NIS2 Directive is expanding its scope to cover a broader range of sectors compared to its predecessor, the current Network and Information Security (NIS) Directive.

All undersigned business associations believe that an ambitious and open trade policy is essential to supporting the EU’s competitiveness. Trade openness drives economic growth and job creation, with 1 in 5 EU jobs relying on exports. It benefits consumers by increasing choices, with 60% of Europeans acknowledging these advantages, and attracts foreign investments, fostering growth and innovation in the EU. Additionally, diversification in sourcing and exports enhances resilience and our ability to weather and overcome crises.

In this document, Orgalim is providing its key recommendations on energy and climate for the upcoming EU legislative period, asking policy makers to commit to achieving the goals of the EU Green Deal while ensuring a strong boost for industry competitiveness in Europe.

The Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM), coupled with the phase-out of free allocation under the EU Emissions Trading System (ETS), will have a negative impact on the competitiveness of Europe’s technology industries.

Europe’s technology industries are fully committed to reducing the content of hazardous substances in their products to support a more circular economy and a healthier environment. However, the proposed general ban on the production, use, and market availability of per- and polyfluorinated alkyl substances (PFAS) would significantly impact on our industries’ ability to produce robust and reliable products.
