Matthias Bölke, Vice President Strategy Industrial Automation at Schneider Electric, has been appointed to chair the Executive Forum for Advanced Manufacturing, EFAM.

Founded and hosted by Orgalim, the Executive Forum brings together senior industrialists in a unique and pre-competitive forum to work together on shaping Europe's manufacturing future. It also serves as an advisory board to Orgalim's Board of Directors.

Dr. Bölke brings a deep expertise and leadership in Industrial Automation and Energy Management. He is global VP Strategy for Schneider Electric's Industrial Automation business and active in several boards and associations, with a focus on Digitisation. Speaking at EU Industry Days 2022 this month in the session on the Uptake of Advanced Manufacturing, co-hosted by Orgalim, he said: "Our current leading position in Europe on advanced manufacturing is great, but it is not a given. We need to speed up and we have clear opportunities for more overall efficiency, sustainability and also to speed up innovation. If we do that, then we will keep our pole position".

"Europe’s ambition to become a world leader in digital and climate will only be possible with the uptake of advanced manufacturing", said Orgalim’s Director Malte Lohan. "I am delighted that the Executive Forum has appointed Matthias Bölke as its chair. He brings deep insights, experience and leadership to this important forum, reinforcing our ability to impact the future of Europe and its manufacturing industry".

Our current leading position in Europe on advanced manufacturing is great, but it is not a given. We need to speed up and we have clear opportunities for more overall efficiency, sustainability and also to speed up innovation.

The Executive Forum is open by invitation to senior executives from companies joining Orgalim. The first meeting took place in December 2021 coinciding with the first meeting of the EU Industrial Forum. Orgalim is co-curator of Task Force 5 of the Industrial Forum, which focuses specifically on the uptake of advanced manufacturing technologies by European industry, accelerating the digital and green transition in manufacturing, and safeguarding Europe’s global leadership in this field. The work of the Executive Forum will, amongst other things, feed into the work of TF5.
