Dear all,
Spring brings with it the prospect of some brighter days ahead as lockdown restrictions ease. Brighter days again, too, for Europe’s technology industries, although our latest economic report shows our recovery remains fragile. This is truly a crucial moment for the competitiveness of our industries. As I emphasised at the Euronews Disrupted Live debate last week, we are in pole position in Europe to lead this next phase of the digital transformation – but other markets are revving up just behind.
So there is no time to lose to put the EU’s new Industrial Strategy to work. Orgalim welcomed the updated version, which landed earlier this month at last, while pointing out what we see as key priorities for making it stronger. We will continue our active engagement with all stakeholders to that end, including in the EU’s Industrial Forum. Just as we keep contributing our industries' positions on the numerous policy files coming down the track, from energy and climate to sustainable finance.
At this defining moment for Europe, it seems clear to me that dialogue between industry, policymakers and civil society is more important than ever to grasp the transformative opportunities that lie ahead. In the next few weeks, you will find our President Rada Rodriguez joining the EU’s flagship digital event, Leading the Digital Decade, co-hosted by the Commission and the Portuguese Presidency, and at the European Parliament’s Intergroup event on technology and innovation shaping Europe's competitiveness. Meanwhile our Policy Director Christoph Luykx will be speaking at the Cyber Security for Manufacturing Summit. I hope to see many of you joining us at these and other future events as we work together to turn the promise of spring into a vibrant summer for all of Europe.
Best regards,
