Orgalim collects e-waste to mark International E-Waste Day
14 October 2021
This 14 October is International E-Waste Day and #TeamOrgalim played its part in raising awareness about the importance of collecting e-waste by organising a collection of its own in its Brussels offices.
Over a two-week period, the team brought in electrical and electronic e-waste, from mobile phones to hairdryers, tablets to toasters, and today handed it all over to Recupel, the Belgium waste management scheme, for end-of-life collection, treatment and recycling.
E-waste is one of the fastest growing waste streams in Europe and currently only around 40% is properly collected, treated and recycled. This year’s International E-Waste Day focuses on the role of the consumer in bringing their end-of-life electrical and electronic equipment to proper collection points.
As Stéphanie Mittelham, Manager – Energy and Environment at Orgalim, said, “We need everyone to play their part to make the circularity of electrical and electronic products a reality”.
