The Executive Forum for Advanced Manufacturing gathered in Brussels today to discuss pressing issues at the forefront of EU policymakers' agenda, with a strong focus on bolstering Europe's industrial competitiveness. One priority topic was the recently released report of the European Commission's Industrial Forum Task Force 5, which provides detailed recommendations for expediting the deployment of advanced manufacturing technologies across EU industrial sectors.

Discussions highlighted the value of the new report’s findings to the ongoing development of the proposed Net Zero Industry Act and the Green Deal Industrial Plan. The Forum also focused on policy priorities for the upcoming EU legislative cycle, with an eye on the approaching European elections in 2024.

In the afternoon, members of the Forum met with Diederik Samsom, Head of Cabinet for European Commission Executive Vice-President for the European Green Deal, Frans Timmermans, and with Žaneta Vegnere, Deputy Head of Cabinet for European Commission Executive Vice-President for an Economy that Works for People, Valdis Dombrovskis. These meetings provided an opportunity for exchanges and valuable insights with key decision-makers at the heart of EU policymaking.

Mikko Nyman, CEO, Fastems: “This is such a pivotal time for European industry and, in turn for Europe’s net zero transformation. So I really value this opportunity to come together with other advanced manufacturing leaders in the Executive Forum to share insights and contribute jointly to securing a greener and more prosperous future for Europe.”

Daniel Wennick, Orgalim’s Policy Director: “Meeting today with these European advanced manufacturing leaders reinforced for me the power of this Executive Forum to generate valuable strategic insights, to move the agenda forward for our industries and contribute to effective policymaking. I’m delighted we were able to host this meeting in the EU capital and thank all the Forum members, and Mr Samsom and Ms Vegnere, for the rich exchanges."

The next meeting of the Executive Forum for Advanced Manufacturing is due to be held in the context of EU Industry Days 2023 in October.
