Presenting ‘2030: an industry vision for a renewed Europe’
4 February 2019
As elections approach, 2019 is set to be a decisive year for the EU. Challenging times lie ahead: rising populism and nationalism, an increasingly unpredictable global order, citizens questioning the value of European collaboration. Yet this is also a moment of immense opportunity.
Over the next decade, rapid technological innovation can unlock a greener, healthier and more prosperous future for the EU and its citizens. And Europe’s technology industries are leading the way in delivering solutions to make this happen.
As the foremost voice of these innovative companies at EU level, Orgalim is today presenting a vision for what this future could look like - with the launch of ‘2030: an industry vision for a renewed Europe’. We envisage a Europe in 2030 where innovation drives global competitiveness, a strong industry spreads prosperity throughout the economy, and technology responds to citizens’ needs – improving quality of life while enabling the transition to a low-carbon, more sustainable society.
We are certain this vision can become a reality – provided the right strategy is in place at EU and national level. To this end, we are making concrete recommendations across policy areas in support of three strategic imperatives:
- Embrace the innovation-led transformation of European industry
- Enable European industry’s long-term global leadership
- Transform societal challenges into drivers of prosperity
Detailed recommendations for each are presented in the brochure below – click here to view the full-screen version.
With this campaign, we are calling on policymakers at EU and national level to act now and seize the opportunities technological innovation has to offer the future of Europe. Kick-off coincides with EU Industry Days, where we will also be hosting a session on industrial AI – just one area where Europe’s technology industries are leading the way in delivering cutting-edge solutions to societal challenges.
At this crucial moment for Europe, we need decisive political leadership to unlock our continent’s future drivers of prosperity, sustainability and wellbeing. The time to act is now - and our technology industries stand ready to play their part.
