"Dialogue and collaboration – among industry, policymakers, and other civil society stakeholders – is the only way that we will ultimately succeed on this path to net zero,” said Orgalim’s Director General Malte Lohan at Orgalim’s networking reception, On the Path to Net Zero, in Brussels yesterday.

Orgalim hosted the event as an informal occasion to do just that, bringing together around a hundred guests from industry, EU institutions, partners and friends for an evening of rich exchange and conversations in a convivial setting.

Dialogue and collaboration is the only way that we will ultimately succeed on this path to net zero.

Welcoming the assembled guests, Lohan quipped that we would have called it our Spring Reception if only the weather in Brussels in April could be trusted to be spring-like. He then opened the event with an exchange with Orgalim President Rada Rodriguez about the central role of Europe’s technology industries in making the net zero transition happen, and the opportunities and the challenges involved.

Another high point of the evening came when Román Arjona, Chief Economist at DG GROW, addressed the audience, sharing his latest insights into the trends driving the transformation of industry. In a wide-ranging conversation with Orgalim's Policy Director, Daniel Wennick, he also highlighted a number of key points, from the power of advanced manufacturing technologies to enable more customised products, boosting consumer confidence and product safety, to the trade-off between measures to support competitiveness in the short term and the ones that have to be put in place in the longer term.

Lively exchanges continued throughout among the representatives present from industry, the European Parliament, Commission and Permanent Representations of the Member States, NGOs and other partners.

Orgalim looks forward to further advancing this constructive dialogue and collaboration in the weeks and months ahead as work continues on the Net Zero Industry Act, Critical Raw Materials Act, and multiple other legislative files, on the path to net zero.
