Orgalim has had a busy few days at Hannover Messe, the leading European trade show for industrial technology.

Orgalim President Rada Rodriguez participated in the opening ceremony and later joined a tour of the Messe with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz. She also participated in a Leaders’ Dialogue with EU Commissioner for Internal Market, Thierry Breton, German Economic Affairs Minister Dr Robert Habeck and other senior members of the German government and industry.

Malte Lohan, our Director General, took part in a VDMA roundtable on the economic impact of the war in Ukraine and how to reduce Europe's dependence on Russian fossil fuels.

Both also facilitated and accompanied a tour of the show with MEP Maria da Graça Carvalho, who is co-chair of the EP’s Intergroup for Sustainable and Competitive Industry alongside numerous other roles related to industrial strategy, innovation and energy. Portugal is Partner Country of Hannover Messe this year, with an extensive presence at the show.

Among the state of the art technologies showcased at the show was the digital twin, which is at the heart of industry's transformation to advanced manufacturing. As Malte Lohan explained in a video direct from the show (below), the digital twin is operationalised by the so-called Asset Administration Shell standard, which also offers a market-ready solution for the planned EU Digital Product Passport for Sustainable Products. "The technology is already here," as he said: "we have to build on it."
