Open Letter to Energy Council and Members of the European Parliament: “Clean Energy for all Europeans” Package: Jobs, Growth and Visible Benefits for EU Citizens - a Call to Make It Happen Now!

Published: 2 December 2016

Policies & Issues: Energy & Climate

Orgalime is encouraged by the Commission’s comprehensive clean energy winter package as the follow up to the EU’s successful ratification of the Paris Agreement. Now, this open letter calls on the Energy Council and Members of the European Parliament to support a timely and ambitious final Energy Package that will boost growth and provide jobs, based on the following pillars: the 'no-regrets' options of "more renewables, more energy efficiency and smart, flexible distribution grids"; unlocking the potential of digitisation to empower consumers; focusing on energy efficiency first; and a governance scheme that includes a stakeholder mechanism.
