Orgalim, Europe’s Technology Industries, appreciates the European Commission’s attempt to respond to calls for a horizontal tool to respond to crises that impact the single market. However, we are deeply concerned by the broad scope of the proposed Regulation establishing a Single Market Emergency Instrument (SMEI) and repealing Council Regulation No (EC) 2679/98 (SMEI) and the level of intervention it foresees in the private economy. We believe the current text goes far beyond ensuring the single market freedoms and increased cooperation.
