Clean Energy Package: recommendations for finalising the energy efficiency, renewables, governance and electricity market design proposals
By adopting the Paris Agreement on climate change and the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development in 2015, governments from around the world chose a more sustainable path for our planet and our economy.
Energy plays a fundamental role in delivering on these commitments. And so finalising the remaining files of the Clean Energy Package in a timely manner in 2018 and with a forward-looking, genuinely sustainable approach will provide Europe with a unique opportunity: to boost local jobs and growth at home, while delivering a win-win for all stakeholders – for the planet, for EU citizens and for European industry.
In light of the three objectives of the Clean Energy Package – to prioritise energy efficiency, achieve global leadership in renewable energy, and provide a fair deal for consumers – Orgalime is calling on policy makers, in particular EU Member States, to install a number of key ambitions into the final pending Clean Energy files.
