Open letter: Bringing sustainability & smartness into European buildings - let’s not miss the chance brought by the EPBD Revision

6 June 2017

Orgalime has come together with a number of EU and national-level industry associations to write an open letter advocating an ambitious revision of the Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD). Directed at members of the two key committees in the European Parliament and the EU ministers of the Transport, Telecommunications and Energy Council, this letter urges legislators to further enhance the impact of the European Commission’s EPBD proposal – creating a win-win situation for Europe’s society, from consumers to market actors and governments.

A more ambitious revision of the EPBD will not only reduce energy consumption in buildings (currently responsible for 40% of final energy demand), but will also enable a greater end-user focus, more extensive decarbonisation and a more digital energy system.
