This roundtable is part of  “EU Industry Week”, Europe’s flagship annual event on industry organised by the European Commission, and "European industrial strategy in focus", Orgalim's series of interactive debates that zoom in on policy issues central to a forward-looking industrial strategy.

As Europe charts its path out of the crisis, the EU’s industrial strategy is being (re)designed to catalyse a speedy and sustainable recovery, to accelerate our industrial transformation, and to strengthen our resilience in a more unstable world. Some pivotal decisions for our industries, and for Europe as a whole, lie ahead. If this is done right, Europe can lead the next global wave of industrial transformation.

Advanced manufacturing has an important role to play in this transformation, since it enables and connects all industrial sectors, supporting their crisis recovery and long-term resilience to a changing global competitive landscape. It is a precondition for achieving the digital and green transitions in the EU.

Join this event to get a better understanding of Europe’s global technology leadership in advanced manufacturing, its societal benefits and how to seize key competitiveness opportunities.  What does global technology leadership mean in practice? How can advanced manufacturing turn efforts to address societal challenges into new global growth markets? How is advanced manufacturing supporting industrial ecosystems & value creation networks, such as construction and the renovation wave? What are the tangible benefits for citizens & workers?

Senior representatives from the European Commission and industry will join this interactive virtual debate on EU’s competitiveness in the changing global competitive landscape, including:

  • Franck Bouetard, CEO Ericsson France

  • Maurice Ditewig, Director of Industrial Automation, Hellebrekers

  • Kerstin Jorna, Director General Internal Market, Industry, Entrepreneurship and SMEs, European Commission

  • Rada Rodriguez, Orgalim President and Senior Vice President, Schneider Electric

The session will be moderated by Jenny Gardner, Head of Strategy C2S, Saab
