Supporting SMEs’ competitiveness and their adoption of high-tech manufacturing technologies is key to delivering net-zero industry, economy and society in Europe. However, implementing advanced manufacturing is still a challenge for SMEs: only one in five manufacturing companies have done so. The obstacles – investment cost, skills, time – are easy enough to identify, overcoming them is harder.

Not for Delhez, though. For this small family business of around 50 people based in Thimister, Belgium, technology is a passion, but not as an end it itself. The company has doubled its turnover in last five years and re-invests a significant proportion of that in new technologies.
