Joint statement for the repeal of the SCIP database – Environmental Omnibus

The Substances of Concern In articles as such or in complex objects (Products) (SCIP) database costs companies about EUR 225 million a year across all sectors, yet the recyclers it was built for barely use it. In practice, most EU companies lack the resources needed to submit and maintain the millions of notifications required.

We ask co-legislators to confirm the repeal of the SCIP database as proposed under the Environmental Omnibus and supported in the draft report (PE787.998) of the ENVI Committee rapporteur, MEP Susana Solís Pérez.
