EU Digital Package Falls Short for EU’s Tech Manufacturers

On behalf of Europe’s technology industries, Orgalim reiterates its call for significant simplification of the EU’s digital regulatory framework. With this in mind, we believe the level of ambition in the digital omnibuses falls short of this simplification.

While there are some positive marginal changes, the Data Act and AI Act are nowhere near the simplification that Europe’s technology manufacturers need to be able to innovate and develop at speed. For example, areas such as cybersecurity legislation should have been tackled with more urgency in this omnibus; although we recognise positive signals regarding the streamlining of incident reporting obligations.
