Orgalim | Europe’s Technology Industries is looking for a Communications Director. This is an exciting role at one of the leading industry associations in Europe, on issues that are at the top of the EU political agenda.

The role

As Communications Director, you will shape Orgalim’s communications strategy, ensuring a strong and consistent voice for our organisation. Reporting directly to the Director General, you will lead the strategic direction of our communications, aligning them with Orgalim’s overall objectives. You will manage a diverse and talented team, ensuring successful media relations, impactful policy communications and a robust digital presence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Communications and campaigning: Develop and implement a forward-looking communications strategy, setting clear KPIs to drive results and measure success. Ensure that the strategy supports Orgalim’s goals and promotes its advocacy work.
  • Leadership and Management: Lead the communications team (4) providing mentorship and fostering a collaborative culture. Ensure the team delivers results through effective execution of communication initiatives.
  • Policy Impact: Manage and oversee communication efforts that shape and support Orgalim’s advocacy work, ensuring that the organisation’s positions are effectively communicated to policymakers, businesses and the interested public.
  • Media Relations and social media strategy: Cultivate strong relationships with media outlets and oversee all press activities, ensuring consistent, high-quality media coverage that advances Orgalim’s objectives. Strengthen Orgalim’s presence, visibility, and share of voice in relevant social media channels.
  • Cross-Department Collaboration: Work closely with different teams within Orgalim to ensure seamless communication across the organisation and that key messages are aligned.
  • Budget Management: Oversee and manage the communications budget, ensuring that resources are effectively allocated to deliver maximum impact.
  • High-Level Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with high-level internal and external stakeholders, translating high-level strategic goals into actionable deliverables for the team, ensuring alignment with Orgalim’s priorities.
  • Team Development: As a manager, foster a positive work environment where team members feel supported, motivated and equipped to achieve success and professional growth.
Your profile:

To excel in this role, you will need to be a strategic thinker with excellent communication skills, a deep understanding of the European policy landscape and the ability to inspire and manage teams. You will be results-driven and able to balance the needs of multiple stakeholders while maintaining a collaborative approach.

  • Experience: Minimum of 10 years of professional experience in strategic communications, media relations or public affairs, in a European political environment.
  • Education: University degree in Communications, Political Science, Marketing, or a related field.
  • Skills:
    •  Strong leadership skills with a track record of successfully leading and developing teams.
    • Understanding of European industry’s challenges and how these are influenced by EU politics.
    • Ability to develop and implement impactful, state-of-the-art communications strategies that align with organisational goals.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage diverse audiences through different communication channels.
    • Ability to communicate both internally and externally in a way that fosters trust and collaboration.
    • Highly organised, calm under pressure, assertive when needed, and able to provide direct, constructive feedback.
    • Ability to diplomatically manage relationships, ensuring clear and effective communication across all levels.
    • Proficiency in digital communications, including social media, websites and digital tools.
    • Strong project management skills with the ability to prioritise and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
    • Fluency in English (native level or equivalent); proficiency in other European languages is a plus.
