One of the biggest challenges of the energy transition is the decarbonisation of the heating and cooling sectors: buildings are currently the single largest energy consumer in Europe. District heating (and cooling) systems are a key part of the solution, but in Europe they still run mostly on fossil fuels, mainly natural gas and coal.
This #TechInAction case study showcases how MAN Energy Solutions Switzerland is implementing an innovative, large-scale heat pump system using renewable energy to provide climate neutral district heating to around 100,000 inhabitants of the Danish port city of Esbjerg.
